[origin: WO2007104625A1] The invention relates to a method for assisting driving of a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, having a detection device for detecting the surroundings of at least a subregion of the surroundings of the vehicle, having an output device (9) for outputting information about the vehicle surroundings, which information is obtained by detecting the surroundings, to a vehicle driver, and having an evaluation device for determining a risk level from the information about the vehicle surroundings. In order to facilitate driving of the vehicle, the invention proposes that at least some of the information about the vehicle surroundings, which is provided for determining the risk level, and the risk level determined by the evaluation device are continuously output by the evaluation device (9) to the vehicle driver during operation of the vehicle. The invention also relates to an apparatus for a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, for carrying out the abovementioned method.
