[origin: EP1997633A2] The chamber (2) has a doctor blade cutter fastened to a working doctor blade (3b) and a closing doctor blade (3a). An opening (30) is formed between edges of the doctor blade cutter. Ink is transferred from the chamber to an ink transfer roller (1) of a printing machine. A control drive of the cutter is arranged to move the closing blade from a position in which the closing blade contacts a surface (1b) of the ink transfer roller, into a position in which the blade does not contact the surface of the ink transfer roller. A gap is formed between the blade cutter and the ink transfer roller. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a printing machine or a printing unit.
