[origin: EP2000643A1] The exhaust system has two separate exhaust gas lines (2, 3) for removing exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine (4). A controller (9) is provided for activating and deactivating a first sound transmitter (7) and for activating and deactivating a second sound transmitter (7, 8) as a function of an operating parameter of an internal combustion engine to provide three switching states for the two sound transmitters.
