[origin: EP2001267A2] The method involves limiting a temperature, which arises below a hob plate for limiting heat, which radiates from a hob area (2) to a previously specified value. An external heating circuit (3.2) is further operated with an average power, which corresponds to the adjustment of a cooking phase, and an internal heating circuit (3.1) is operated with reduced power, which is smaller than the average power, after switching off of a heating element (3) using a monitoring element (6) and switching on of the heating element. An independent claim is also included for a hob with a hob area.
