Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2007068812A2] Intervertebral disc prosthesis (1) formed by at least one means (10) constituting half of the prosthesis, each means (10) comprising: a central means (100) which is a block of viscoelastic material Mv whose mechanical characteristics, in particular its stiffness and shock absorption, are very close to those of a healthy intervertebral disc; means (101a and b) which grip the means (100) and which are made of metals or of any other rigid material compatible with the human body, the assembly composed of the above means (101a and b) together with the means (100) being obtained by injection-moulding of the material Mv in orifices or cavities or excrescences having suitable shapes for retention, said orifices or excrescences being situated on certain parts of the means (100a or b) that grip the means (100). Other embodiments are described and claimed.
