The machine i.e. folding press (1), has a press table (3) connected to a machine frame (2), and carrying a lower die (5). A press beam (7) is movable along a guiding device (11) on the frame in a direction (12) of the table. A control unit (13) has a control element (15) drive-connected to the beam by a connecting element (24), where element (15) is in the form of piston rod. Another control element (17) in the form of a cylinder tube (18) is drive-connected to the frame or to the table in or below a horizontal reference plane (27) running through a press table support surface (4). An independent claim is also included for a method for driving a press beam of a bending machine.

Biegemaschine, insbesondere Abkantpresse (1), umfassend einen Maschinenrahmen (2), einen mit dem Maschinenrahmen (2) verbundenen, ein Unterwerkzeug (5) tragenden Presstisch (3), einen ein Oberwerkzeug (8) tragenden, entlang einer Führung (11) am Maschinenrahmen (2) in Richtung (12) zum Presstisch (3) verstellbaren Pressbalken (7) sowie zumindest ein den Pressbalken (7) in Richtung (12) zum Presstisch (3) verstellendes Stellorgan (13) mit zwei relativ zueinander verstellbaren Stellelementen (15, 17), wobei ein erstes Stellelement (15) des Stellorgans (13) mittels eines ersten Verbindungselements (24) mit dem verstellbaren Pressbalken (7) antriebsverbunden ist. Dabei ist ein zweites Stellelement (17) des Stellorgans (13) mittels eines zweiten Verbindungselements (25) in oder unterhalb einer durch eine Presstischauflagefläche (4) verlaufenden horizontalen Bezugsebene (27) mit dem Maschinenrahmen (2) oder dem Presstisch (3) antriebsverbunden.
