Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2007115656A2] The invention relates to a security element having a transparent carrier material which has a first periodic or almost periodic dot or line printed pattern on a first side and a second periodic or almost periodic dot or line printed pattern on a second side which is substantially mirror-symmetrical to the first, wherein the second dot or line printed pattern has at least one part region, in which the dots or lines are offset in comparison with the dots or lines of the remaining second dot or line printed pattern. As a result of the fact that the first dot or line printed pattern is combined with an embossed structure which is produced by way of a recess printing method and that the first dot or line printed pattern interacts with the second dot or line printed pattern in such a way that at least one part region has a visually detectable information item which indicates the authenticity of the security element when it is looked through, the security against forging of the security element can be increased. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for manufacturing a security element of this type, a data storage medium having a security element of this type, and the use of a security element or data storage medium of this type for product security.
