Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2007119194A2] Disclosed is a collecting bin (1) that has explosion-attenuating and fragment-blocking properties and comprises an interior (5), an outer wall (5) which is mounted around the interior (5), and a device in the interior (5) for mounting a plastic bag (8) used for accommodating the material (8a) that is to be collected. Said collecting bin (1) further comprises a least one window (9) which is made of a transparent polymer and through which essentially the entire interior (5) is visible from outside without opening the collecting bin (1). The material and the dimensions of the window (9) are selected such that at least 90 percent of the fragments (21) of an explosive charge in the form of a fragmentation hand grenade containing at least 150 g of an RDX/TNT mixture fail to penetrate the window (9) when said explosive charge explodes in the interior (5) of the collecting bin, or said fragments (21) are decelerated so as not to penetrate a 2 mm thick aluminum sheet that is mounted 5 meters away from the explosive charge.
