[origin: WO2007121718A1] The invention relates to a hydraulic device (10.1), with an outer sleeve (16), a longitudinally-displaceable piston rod (12), with a sealed mounting in the outer sleeve (16), having a piston flange (14), wherein an external force (54) permanently acts on the piston rod (12), hydraulic chambers (20, 22, 24), provided between the outer sleeve (16) and the piston rod (12) in a sealing manner and a hydraulic regulator (34) with at least one valve unit (30, 32.1), a pump unit and a tank unit, the desired position of the piston rod (12) being adjustable with the hydraulic regulator (34) by means of pressure variation within the corresponding hydraulic chamber (20, 22, 24), characterised in that, on one side of the piston flange (14), a first hydraulic chamber (20) is provided and a second and a third hydraulic chamber (22, 24) are provided on the other side of the piston flange (14), wherein a selector (42.1) is provided in the second hydraulic chamber (22), which provides a communication connection between the first hydraulic chamber (20) and the third hydraulic chamber (24) in the event of a rapid closure.
