[origin: WO2007122151A1] In order to check the functioning of a conventional current converter at low cost, a device for checking a current converter is provided. Said current converter comprises a test current conductor (1) and a test pulse circuit (5), which has an energy store (6), charging means (13) for charging the energy store (6) and a switching element (7) for discharging the energy store via the test current conductor. As a result, a discharge current can be generated in the test current conductor, wherein an evaluation unit for detecting a current converter signal caused by the discharge current is provided.
