[origin: WO2007121814A1] The invention relates to a socket (10) for two-pin lamps (18), in particular halogen lamps, with a socket housing (11) that has contacts (33) in its interior loaded by a spring (36), with insertion openings (26) for pins (23) of the two-pin lamp (18) on the upper side of the socket housing (11), with a sleeve (14) fastened to the top of the socket housing (11) that receives a lamp base (19) with a flange (20), which is supported on the free edge (15) of the sleeve (14). After a turning motion of the two-pin lamp (18), the pins (23) fitted with heads (24) touch the contacts (33) with a spring action for transmission of current, with the lamp flange (20) being pulled towards the edge (15) of the sleeve (14) during the turning motion. According to the invention the sleeve (14) has recesses (16) directed towards the interior of the sleeve, which pre-position the lamp base (19) during its turning motion, and in doing so a space is created between the lamp base (19) and the internal wall of the sleeve (14) (Fig. 1).
