Abstract (en)
The plug has an insulator (2) arranged in a body (1) that is made of base metallic materials, and an earth electrode (4) emanating from the body. A molded part (6) is welded to the earth electrode and is turned towards a central electrode (3), where the molded part is made from a set of noble metals. A spacer (9) is provided between the molded part and the earth electrode and is welded to the molded part and the earth electrode. The spacer is formed as a socket and has a thermal expansion co-efficient, which differs from the thermal expansion co-efficient of the earth electrode. An independent claim is also included for a method for reinforcing an earth electrode.

Beschrieben wird eine Zündkerze - mit einem Körper (1) aus einem unedlen metallischen Werkstoff, in welchem ein Isolator (2) angeordnet ist, - mit einer im Isolator (2) angeordneten Mittelelektrode (3), - mit einer von dem Körper (1) ausgehenden Masseelektrode (4), auf welche ein der Mittelelektrode (3) zugewandtes Formteil (6) geschweißt ist, dessen Masse überwiegend aus einem oder mehreren Edelmetallen besteht, und - mit einem zwischen dem Formteil (6) und der Masseelektrode (4) vorgesehenen Zwischenstück (9), welches einerseits mit dem Formteil (6) und andererseits mit der Masseelektrode (4) verschweißt ist. Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, dass das Zwischenstück (9) einen thermischen Ausdehnungskoeffizienten hat, der allenfalls unwesentlich von dem thermischen Ausdehnungskoeffizienten der unedlen Masseelektrode (4) abweicht.
