[origin: EP2019277A2] The device has a transportation carriage (30) that is arranged at the transfer table (20) or at the adjustment plate (16). A lateral boundary is formed at the transfer table or at the adjustment plate. Multiple vials (18) are provided directly at an edge of the transfer table or the adjustment plate to rest against the transportation carriage during a loading and unloading process. An independent claim is also included for a method for loading and unloading of an adjustment plate of a freeze drying unit with vials.
