[origin: WO2007122452A1] The invention relates to apparatus for producing carbon monoxide by a chemical reaction process. The process includes a reactor in which a plurality of reaction vessels are located, one above the other, permitting overflow of reaction acids from higher to lower vessels. In use, reaction acids are continuously fed onto the highest reaction vessel, where the reaction process for producing carbon monoxide is initiated, the process continuing on lower vessels as the acids overflow onto the lower vessels. The process is effectively exhausted on the lowermost vessel, from where the final overflow liquid will be collected in a collection space in the base region of the reactor. The apparatus includes also a pressure sensitive control mechanism that controls the passage of carbon monoxide via filters to a suitable collector.
