Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1858181A1] The method involves receiving and extracting a signaling message (M) comprising data describing a state of an electronic service guide (ESG) from bursts (1-3). The data of the guide state of the message is compared with data of guide state previously stored in a receiver e.g. digital TV receiver. The receiver is activated for receiving and downloading the guide data in case of difference between the data of the guide state of the message and the stored guide state, and the stored guide is updated. The reception and downloading of guide data are deactivated when the update is terminated.
