Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2022893A2] The method involves guiding a web (3) by using a web carrier (5) e.g. dryer fabric, which includes several components by a section. A break of the web is detected by an optical device (8) for web break detection. A cut-off device (9) for the web is activated directly or indirectly by the optical device for the web break detection. An intensity (IR) of a light source (11) e.g. lamp, of the optical device in a wavelength range (L) between 800 to 2,600 nanometer reflected by the web and/or one component of the carrier is measured by using a detector (14) of the optical device. An independent claim is also included for a device for detection of a break of a web in a section of a machine for production of the web.
