[origin: WO2007138018A1] The subject matter of the invention relates to a component (11) which displays a coating (21) on a component substrate (18). The coating can be part of a larger coating system. The invention provides that the coating (21) is to be used as an indicator for thermal stress of the component (11). The coating (21) is composed of two layers (26a, 26b), for example, and isolated from the rest of the component (11) by a diffusion barrier layer (25). The temperature dependent diffusion processes running between the layers (26a, 26b) can be evaluated by appropriate methods (for example, by creating an eddy current system) and advantageously make it possible to draw conclusions about the thermal stress of the component. The coating (21), according to the invention, can be used, for example, with turbine blades.
