[origin: WO2007138478A2] The invention relates to a type of leather (1) provided with a thin plastic layer (2) on the surface thereof. According to the invention, said plastic layer (2) has a thickness of less than 0.09 mm and consists of a mixture of organic polymers having elastomer properties and inorganic polymers having elastomer-type properties. The plastic layer is provided with hollow microspheres, some of which, together with a sheathing consisting of the plastic layer, form a raised part therein, very fine leather fibres protruding from the leather surface projecting from the plastic layer between said hollow microspheres. The density of the plastic layer (2) is below 0.75 g/ cm~, and the Shore hardness amounts to less than 58 Shore A.
