[origin: WO2007144528A1] The present invention relates to a method for regulating a flow of recirculating gas flowing through an internal combustion engine recirculation line, the recirculation line comprising, between an upstream part (58) and a downstream part (59), means (70) for cooling the flow of recirculating gas and short circuiting means (80) designed to adopt two states namely an activated state in which the flow of recirculating gas passes directly from the upstream part to the downstream part, and an inactivated state in which the flow of recirculating gas passes through the cooling means. According to the invention, the method involves the steps of detecting at least one characteristic value of the level of demand on the internal combustion engine, of comparing the said characteristic value against a threshold value, and of activating or deactivating the short circuiting means according to the result of the comparison.
