[origin: WO2007144076A1] The invention relates to an operating element (1, 11) for a vehicle with a rotatably mounted actuating member, a signal-emitting permanent magnet interacting with the actuating member, an angular position sensing device working on a magneto-electric principle for sensing the angular positions and rotational movements of the actuating member, and an analysis unit (7) connected downstream, wherein for angular position sensing the permanent magnet (4, 5, 12, 13, 14) is fixed on the actuating member in a rotationally fixed manner, the field lines of the permanent magnet (4, 5, 12, 13, 14) being directly analysed by means of a field-line direction analysing sensor (7) fastened in a stationary manner in the operating element (1 , 11).
