[origin: WO2007115587A1] The present invention relates to a household appliance (10) comprising a microphone element (20) associated with at least one surface (12, 14, 16) of the household appliance such that at least one vibration occurring in the surface (s) is transferred to the microphone element, which is adapted to generate an electric signal in accordance with the vibration (s), and control means (24) for generating a control signal in accordance with the electric signal for execution of a household appliance operation. Such a vibration is conveniently generated by a user knocking on the surface, whereby an "invisible" tactile user interface is realized. The present invention also relates to a method for controlling a household appliance.
