Treating a skin material, comprises treating the skin material with a phenol group containing tanning agent for enabling a reaction between the hydroxyl group with the aluminum-ions to the aluminum-ion complex formation and hydrogen bridging on the different side chains of the polypeptide chain of the skin, and binding aluminum ions primarily on the carboxyl group of the polypeptide chain of the skin, with the result of an irreversible tanning, similarly the chrome-tanning, where the aluminum treatment is carried out at least partially after the fat treatment.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Methode zur Behandlung von Tierhäuten, bestehend aus: - der Behandlung der Tierhäute mit einem Phenolgruppen enthaltenden Gerbstoff zur Ermöglichung einer Reaktion zwischen dem Hydroxylgruppen (OH-) mit den Alu-lonen einerseits zur Alu-lonen Komplexbildung und Wasserstoffbruckenbildung (nebenvalensig) an die verschiedenen Seitenketten der Polypeptidketten der Haut. Der Bindung Alu-lonen hauptvalentig an die Carboxylgruppen der Polypeptidketten der Haut, mit dem Ergebnis einer irreversible Gerbung, ähnlich der Chromgerbung. dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Aluminiumbehandlung wenigstens teilweise nach der Fettbehandlung durchgeführt wird.
