Device for grinding a rotating cutting blade comprises a measuring unit (46) for measuring the rotating speed of a grinding disk (32) and a signal-generating unit connected to the measuring unit for producing a production releasing signal when the rotating speed of the disk has reached a prescribed percentage of the theoretical rotating speed. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Method for grinding a rotating cutting blade; (2) Cigarette-making machine with the above device; and (3) Filter-placing machine with the above device. Preferred Features: The theoretical rotating speed is the theoretical rotating speed of the cutting blade.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zum Schleifen von rotierenden Schneidmessern (30) zum Schneiden von stabförmigen Artikeln in Zigarettenherstellungs- und/oder Filteransetzmaschinen der tabakverarbeitenden Industrie, bei welchem mindestens eine rotierende Schleifscheibe (32, 32a) in berührenden Schleifeingriff mit dem Schneidmesser (30) bringbar ist. Das Besondere der Erfindung besteht darin, dass die Rotationsgeschwindigkeit der Schleifscheibe (32, 32a) ermittelt wird und ein Produktionsfreigabesignal erzeugt wird, wenn die Rotationsgeschwindigkeit der Schleifscheibe (32, 32a) einen vorgebbaren Prozentsatz einer Sollrotationsgeschwindigkeit erreicht hat.
