[origin: US2009013465A1] A bed has a retractable barrier combining vertical movement and transverse movement. The barrier comprises two parallel arms forming portions of a deformable parallelogram system, and each arm is attached the frame by a two-element telescopic mechanism comprising an inner element and an outer element that are constrained relative to each other by a shape connection suitable for varying the transverse position of the barrier element while it is being moved vertically.
