[origin: WO2008000404A1] The invention relates to a holder (1) for a drinks container which is intended to be installed, for example, in the central console (2) of a motor vehicle. The invention proposes that the holder (1) is fitted with an upwardly adjustable, circular holding element (3) and a support (5) that can be swiveled from a lying to a standing position. Said support is attached to one point on the periphery of the holding element (3) in such a way that during the swiveling of the support (5) into the standing position, the holding element (3) is lifted. In a lying position, the support (5) projects into the holding element (3), and thus reduces the inner width of the holding element to adjust to a drinks container with a smaller diameter.
