[origin: WO2009016029A2] The invention relates to a method and a control unit (CM) for starting a steam turbine (ST) to a synchronous rotation speed (nsync), which steam turbine (ST) is operated in a thermal power coupling system (1) with a boiler (B) and at least one valve (CV), which is arranged in a steam line (FSL) between the boiler (B) and the steam turbine (ST) and has a controllable open position. Conventional starting procedures provide that the open position (X) of the valve (CF) is controlled exclusively as a function of the rotation speed (n) of the steam turbine (ST). This can lead to inadvertent quick-shut-off events. The invention overcomes this in that the open position of the control valve (CV) is temporarily controlled during the starting process as a function of the fresh steam pressure (PF).
