[origin: WO2008003272A1] In order to make available a cost effective device providing reliable location information for locating a vehicle tied to a roadway, with reference markers (7, 8) which are mounted on the roadway, and with scanning means (2) which are disposed in the vehicle and which generate at least one output signal (10, 11) when passing a reference marker (7, 8), it is proposed to compose the scanning means (2) from several individual sensors (3) which are extended in the driving direction (6) with an average scanning length equal to or greater than the distance between the reference markers (7, 8) disposed in the vicinity of one another.
