[origin: WO2008003571A2] The invention relates to a method for operating a gas turbine (1) which especially feeds power to a locally isolated power supply network. Said gas turbine comprises a compressor (11) for compressing combustion air taken in from the surroundings, a combustion chamber (15) for combusting supplied fuel by means of the compressed combustion air, a turbine (12) driven by the hot gases stemming from the combustion chamber (15) and a generator (13), driven by the turbine (12), for producing electric power. The aim of the invention is to improve the control of the aforementioned method. For this purpose, one or more parameters of a set of parameters of the gas turbine (10) is measured or determined, the effective thermal output power (P<SUB>GT</SUB>) of the gas turbine (10) being calculated based on the measured or determined parameters, and the calculated effective thermal output power (P<SUB>GT</SUB>) being used for controlling the gas turbine (10).
