The amplitude of the attenuation function is determined from the receiving signals of a receiving coil at three different measuring points recurring segments of the transmitting signal during a given measuring signal. Four measuring cycles chronologically pass through. The measuring value or attenuation function is composed from one of the measuring cycles which are in relation to each other and are compared to given reference values.
