Abstract (en)

[origin: DE102006031387B3] Card embossing apparatus (1), with an embossing device with a movable, actuatable embossing stamper positioned over an embossing region (4), a stamper unit (8) with a vertically movable punch to apply the stamper and a fixed, stamper impacting striking tool (6), has a unit (3) for supplying a card to the embossing region and an embossing matrix (7), which has individual actuatable embossing stampers and is movable in the X- and/or Y-direction to position a selected stamper vertically and/or horizontally. An independent claim is included for a corresponding method for embossing a card in an embossing region (4), involving: (A) positioning an embossing matrix (7), which has individual actuatable embossing stampers and is movable in the X- and/or Y-direction, over the position to be embossed; (B) applying the actuatable, movable embossing stamper located in the matrix using a vertically movable punch and (C) impacting the punch, so that the card is embossed in teh embossing region by the stamper.
