[origin: EP2042315A2] The unit (10) has a plate cylinder (12) for receiving a printing plate, where the cylinder includes axis of rotation. An impression cylinder (14) has axis of rotation, and forms a printing nip with the plate cylinder for printing on a substrate. An ink applicator roller (16) is engaged by the printing plate for contacting the roller. The plate cylinder is pivotable about a pivot axis parallel to the axis of rotation of the impression cylinder. The axes of rotation of the plate cylinder and impression cylinder are spaced apart by a variable distance. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing labels or self-adhesive labels in a printing press.
