[origin: WO2008006678A1] Disclosed is a rotor (1) for an electric motor or generator with a rotor shaft (2), a rotor core (4), and an insulation sleeve (11) which encloses the rotor shaft (2) and which is arranged on the rotor shaft (2), on a front face of the rotor core (4) which is not facing a commutator (3). According to the invention, the insulation sleeve (11) has, on the end facing away from the rotor core (4), a collar (13) with an outer diameter greater than the outer diameter of the part of the insulation sleeve (11) which adjoins the collar (13). The collar (13) is formed by compression of the insulation sleeve (11). The invention allows an advantageous shortening of the rotor (1). Said rotor is suited preferably for use in an electric motor, in particular, preferably, in a commutator motor, in particular, preferably, in household appliances. For example, the motor can drive a blower in a vacuum cleaner, or in a hair-dryer, or in a hand mixer, or an output shaft in a kitchen appliance.
