Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2008012477A2] The invention proposes a bumper element (1) for an automotive vehicle, of the type that includes at least one shock absorption element (14) comprising deformation means (16) and rigidification means (18) characterized in that: the deformation means (16) are formed by a U-shaped section of a beam forming the shock absorption element, the concavity (20) of which is turned toward the stone deflector (17) and the horizontal arms (22, 24) of which are intended to separate by bending when the shock absorption element (14) is subjected to a compression shock with a pedestrian, the rigidification elements (18) are arranged at the bottom of the U-shaped section of the beam forming the shock absorption element (18) and are interposed between the vertical arm (26) and the horizontal arms (22, 24) of said U-shaped section of the beam forming the shock absorption element (18).
