[origin: DE102006035914B3] In a process to convert an impermeable non-woven fiber web into a perforated paper drying belt, the web is subject to a water jet drill assembly and pressure contact with a profiled (3) surface (2) whose raised areas are separated by troughs. The profiled surface has drain holes (4) for the water from the jets. The peaks in contact with the fleece (5) are rounded and/or inclined. The plate projections are essentially truncated pyramids with parallel sidewalls subtending an angle with the plate of about 45 degrees.
