[origin: WO2008015448A2] A method of registering an identity with the network infrastructure of a mobile communications system in which a communications terminal first registers itself with the system infrastructure. Once registered, the terminal exchanges messages with the system infrastructure relating to an identity to be registered, for example, a smart card that is insertable into the terminal or a user of the terminal. The terminal, once having completed the message exchange, then registers with the system infrastructure the identity to be registered.
