It is provided according to the invention that the frequency generating device (10) modulates the feed device (5) in such a way that the stroke travels of the forward strokes and/or of the rearward strokes of at least two successive forming steps, composed in each case of a forward stroke and a rearward stroke, of the device (1) are different. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for forming a workpiece.
