[origin: WO2008017582A2] In order to improve the combustibility and the calorific value of fuels, these fuels are subjected to different pretreatment methods. In order to improve the cost-effectiveness of the pretreatment of fuels, it is proposed to remove noncombustible, gaseous constituents from the fuels and to convey said constituents in a gas stream to a further use. In particular the gas stream is subjected to a gas-splitting method through which gas constituents extracted from the fuel can be presented in pure form.
