[origin: WO2008014781A1] An apparatus for removing slag (4) from a deslagger (1) that comprises a deslagger housing (15) with a deslagger base (7), has a deslagger piston (8) which pushes the slag (4) out of the deslagger (1) through a discharge channel (2), wherein the deslagger piston (8) comprises a four-bar mechanism (14). The process of pushing the slag (4) out of the deslagger (1) comprises at least two different phases: a push-out phase, during which the deslagger piston (8) is guided along the deslagger base (7) and moved towards the discharge channel (2), and a return phase in which the piston (8) is lifted off the deslagger base (7) and moved away from the discharge channel (2).
