[origin: WO2008017366A1] It is proposed that the firing pin (11) which is integrated in the breech (2) be operated by means of a release mechanism (15) which is located adjacent to the breech (2) or the weapon barrel (5), preferably adjacent to a breech ring (6), which can rotate. The firing pin (11), which is cocked by a spring (12), is in this case held in a cocked position or released by means of a lateral bolt (13). A safety pin (14) engages in or acts on the lateral bolt (13) and is forced back from the lateral bolt (13) by the release mechanism (15) at the latest when the breech (2) is functionally connected to the weapon barrel (5) such that the firing pin (11) together with the firing initiator (10) initiates the firing of ammunition (3). Further means (6.2) are used to cock the firing pin again, thus permitting the lateral bolt (13) to reengage in front of the firing pin (11), in order to hold the firing pin (11) in its cocked position.
