[origin: WO2008017611A1] A switching device (14) for selectively switching off an electrical line (1). It comprises a single current path (15) included in the electrical line (1) being able to be switched off selectively and connected in series, comprising an electrical series circuit (16) of at least one switching element (17), of a thermal trigger element (19) and a current limiting element (18). The thermal trigger element (19) is connected to a switching lock (21) by a mechanical thermal lock connection (20), being in turn connected to the switching element (17) by a mechanical unlatching connection (23) with a moveable contact part (22). The switching device (14) is of simple design and comprises a secure selective switching behavior.
