Abstract (en)
[origin: EP2053339A2] The element (10) has active bodies (11a-11c) embedded in a matrix substance (12). Continuous cut-outs (T1, T3) extend over a total thickness (d) of the element. Cumulative masses of the bodies found in the cut-outs are altered compared to a reference cut-out (T2) of same dimension in a direction of length and breadth so that altered protective effect is produced in the continuous cut-outs. The reference-cut-out extends over the total thickness. A number of the bodies in the continuous cut-outs is altered. Filler made of solid matter e.g. polyurethane foam, is added to the substance. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a vehicle comprising a surface to be protected (2) a method for manufacturing a flat composite armor element.
