Abstract (en)
The invention provides new methods, means and uses in connection with establishing a prognosis for cancer patients. The provided method for determining whether a prognosis for a mammalian subject having or suspected of having a cancer is worse than or equal to a reference prognosis comprises the steps of: providing a sample earlier obtained from the subject; evaluating the amount of GPX2 protein present in at least part of the sample and determining a sample value corresponding to the amount; comparing the obtained sample value with a reference value associated with the reference prognosis; and, if the sample value is equal to or lower than the reference value, concluding that the prognosis for the subject is equal to or worse than the reference prognosis.
