The dryer (1) has an air supply duct (2) for supplying air, and heat pumps (12, 18) for heating supply air and the heated supply air, where the air are supplied over articles to be dried using a blower (19). An air exhaust duct (16) and an engine (21) drive a drying chamber (3), a heat exchanger (14) of the exhaust duct and a condensate tub (20) that is arranged underneath the exchanger. An opening (22), a blower (23) and an inlet (25) dissipate warm air from a housing inner area (27) to the tub, where the opening enables influence of air present over the tub based on suction effect. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an exhaust air dryer with a drying chamber for drying articles.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Ablufttrockner (1) mit einer Trocknungskammer (3) für zu trocknende Gegenstände, einem Zuluftkanal (2) für Zuluft, in dem sich eine Heizung (12,18) zur Erwärmung der Zuluft befindet und die erwärmte Prozessluft mittels eines ersten Gebläses (19) über die zu trocknenden Gegenstände geführt werden kann, einem Abluftkanal (16), einem Motor (21) für den Antrieb der Trocknungskammer (3), einem ersten Wärmetauscher (14) im Abluftkanal (16) und einer unterhalb des ersten Wärmetauschers (14) angeordneten Kondensatwanne (20), wobei der Ablufttrockner (1) erste Mittel (22,23,25) zur Ableitung von warmer Luft aus einem den Motor (21) umfassenden Gehäuseinnenraum (27) hin zur Kondensatwanne (20) und über diese hinweg aufweist. Die Erfindung betrifft außerdem ein Verfahren zum Betrieb dieses Ablufttrockners (1).
