Plate (1) comprises a holding groove (8a) on at least one side along the plate edge (6a) and a reinforcing edge (7) arranged in the groove. The reinforcing edge is connected with its outer surface facing away from the groove flush with the plate edge. An independent claim is also included for a method for the production of a plate. Preferred Features: The plate has a surface cover forming a joining surface facing a base body (2) and lying against the base body and the reinforcing edge. The surface cover is 0.1-2 mm thick.

Schalplatte und Verfahren zu deren Herstellung, mit einem Grundkörper (2) und einem am Plattenrand (6a) auf mindestens einer Plattenseite vorgesehenen Kantenschutz. Der Kantenschutz weist eine Bewehrungskante (7) auf, welche in einer am Plattenrand (6a) auf mindestens einer Plattenseite durchgehend verlaufenden Aufnahmenut (8a) angeordnet ist, sodass die Bewehrungskante (7) mit ihrer von der Aufnahmenut (8a) abgewandten Außenfläche (16) mit dem Plattenrand (6a) bündig abschließt. Dadurch wird gegenüber den aus dem Stand der Technik bekannten Schalplatten ein besonders kompakter Aufbau bereitgestellt, sodass auch nahe dem Plattenrand bedenkenlos beispielsweise ein Nagel eingeschlagen werden kann, ohne die Schalplatte dabei zu beschädigen.
