The motor vehicle specific adapter (3) comprises an on board computer of a motor vehicle. An identification medium is provided for identifying the adapter by a service diagnostic device (2). The identification medium comprises a Radio-frequency identification (RFID)transmission unit (12) for transmitting an identification data.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen kraftfahrzeugspezifischen Adapter (3)zum Verbinden eines Service-Diagnose-Gerätes (2) mit einem Bordcomputer des Kraftfahrzeugs, mit Identifikationsmitteln zum Identifizieren des Adapters (3) durch das Service-Diagnose-Gerät (2). Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, dass die Identifikationsmittel eine RFID-Sendeeinheit (12) zum Aussenden von Identifikationsdaten umfassen.
