[origin: WO2008025448A1] The invention relates to an aqueous size for producing a BN-containing coating on a substrate, comprising, based on the solid content of the size, a) 45-90 wt.% BN, b) 3-25 wt.% boehmite nanoparticles, c) 0.5-5 wt.% of at least one borate, d) 2-30 wt.% of at least one water-insoluble boron compound different from a) and c) and e) 2-30 wt.% of an organic compound, the solid content of the size being 15-60 wt.%. Said size is suitable for producing self-sealing and hot -flexible coatings with exceptional suitability for foundry applications.
