[origin: WO2008025545A1] The invention relates to a vacuum interrupter chamber for medium-voltage switchgear, comprising one or more cylindrical ceramic pipe sections, which are sealed by a metal cover on both the fixed contact side and the moving contact side, as per the preamble of claim 1. The aim of the invention is to improve a vacuum interrupter chamber with respect to the pressure resistance of its exterior. To achieve this, the interior and/or exterior of at least one of the covers is provided with an insert that increases the resultant wall strength, or an exterior cover or exterior ring, which lies in the cover at least in a partial positive fit, or lies on the exterior of the cover.
