Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2008041938A1] The invention relates to a method of operating a fuel cell (1). The fuel cell has an anode (2) and a cathode (3). The anode (2) has a catalyst that comprises Te. The method comprises the steps of feeding methanol to the side of the anode (2) and feeding oxygen or a carrier (5) of oxygen to the cathode side (3) such that a reaction occurs that generates an electrical current. The invention also relates to a fuel cell having a catalyst that comprises Te.
