The illumination device has a light source (6) and an optical imaging element (2) arranged in a beam path of the light source. A surface element (8) is arranged between the light source and the imaging element. The surface element is formed for illumination of the focal plane of the imaging element, and is particularly arranged in the focal plane of the imaging element. The surface element is formed for converting wavelengths of light emitted from the light source. The surface element is made from a material comprising a phosphorus composition.

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Beleuchtungsvorrichtung für ein Fahrzeug mit zumindest einer Lichtquelle (6) und zumindest einem im Strahlengang der Lichtquelle (6) angeordneten optischen Abbildungselement (2), wobei zwischen der Lichtquelle (6) und dem Abbildungselement (6) ein Flächenelement (8) angeordnet ist, welches zumindest zur Ausleuchtung der Brennebene des Abbildungselements (2) ausgebildet ist.
