Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2008037882A2] The present invention relates to a programmed intermittent automatic watering system comprising at least one duct (2) for supplying a liquid to at least one automatic animal watering device (1) comprising a watering pipette (3) to which animals have access, a buffer area between the pipette (3) and the duct (2), and flow control means (5) between the duct (2) and the buffer area, wherein means in the buffer area provide for a discontinuity between the volume of liquid contained in the buffer area and the volume of liquid contained in the duct (2), characterised in that the duct (2) comprises at least one electro-valve (8) controlled by at least one programmer (9) that generates pulses at programmed intervals and for programmed durations for closing and/or opening said electro-valve (8) according to the volume of the buffer area and to a flow range of the flow control means (5) of each watering device (1); the flow control means (5) and the electro-valve opening durations are adapted to each other according to the maximum quantity of liquid to be supplied, and are adjusted for delivering a predetermined quantity of liquid to each of the watering devices (1) upon each electro-valve (8) opening, and the buffer area may contain a volume higher than said predetermined quantity.
